Struggling with/against thoughts
Here's a bit I wrote to myself a few years ago. I appreciate looking back and realizing how much I did know even when I was feeling challenged. These are basic truths which still help me now, five-plus years out.
-
Trust your knowledge. Be secure in what you know versus what you feel. "...they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge." (Romans 10:2)
-
Feelings have purpose but not for deciding how to view ourselves or others.
-
GOD already made the rules. Don't have to figure it out.
-
Study: is peace a feeling or a state of being?
-
Safe in my role, which I didn't decide or choose, but I can relax into.
-
GOD already has the world figured out. I don't have to worry about that. It runs by His laws and rules. I don't have to make them up; I just have to accept them. I can trust them.
-
I'm becoming more aware of myself and without shame. But I must guard against pride and arrogance.
-
Old way of thinking was so abstract. And relied on feelings. Not concrete, universal truth.
So thankful for simplicity.
